Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, shared an update about the highly anticipated and long-worked 1.6 update of the farm life simulation and said that he has now completed the patch and will definitely release it this year.
Barone announced that he was working on a 1.6 update for Stardew Valley in June 2022, and stated that it would be mostly modification-oriented in scope.
However, with each new patch note, the 1.6 update seems to become more ambitious; In September last year, Barone announced that 1.6 would include one major new festival and two new mini-festivals, new items and crafting recipes, new lines of dialogue, a new farm type, new end-game content, winter clothing for villagers, a new and larger chest. confirmed that it will include 8-player co-op and more on PC. Additionally, you will be able to put hats on your cats and dogs.
Back in December, Barone announced that he was making a ton of progress and was working hard to complete work on 1.6. In a new announcement on social media, he confirmed that he has officially finished adding new content to the patch and will focus on “bug fixing and polishing” until it is ready for release. “Thank you for your patience,” he added.
According to Barone himself, 1.6 is a little more comprehensive than originally planned, but it’s definitely coming this year, as he wrote in response to a fan question asking if the update would arrive this year: “Yes definitely.”
